I am in Cameroon for almost 6 years<\/strong>, and most of the time I stayed in North Cameroon which is predominantly a Muslim area. I love this land and from the very first day, when I kept my feet on this land, I remembered the words that echoed in my heart: \u201cThis is my land which the Lord has promised me\u201d.<\/p>\n

Time passes and everything becomes a routine life: the life with the people, the apostolate, the hot weather and even the difficult situations in which the population lives. We get used to everything! Then, one day two Italian youth arrive here for a mission experience and everything changes<\/strong>. I take them around, to meet the people and I see again in their eyes the same astonishment I had experienced at the beginning.<\/p>\n

One day we went to visit a village Mbororo, (the ethnic group of nomads with no fixed abode), who move themselves with their cattle – oxen, goats and poultry from one place to another in search of food.<\/p>\n

It seems to us a ridiculous life, who, are in need of security and stability. But it is a life of uncertainty, of poverty and I can say that they are with little education. Their main purpose is breeding their cattle which give them the possibility to live and to eat. In spite of being narrow-minded and usually mistrustful with strangers, they welcomed us with a charming simplicity, and, moreover, inviting us to enter into their hut to understand their culture.<\/p>\n

It seems a ridiculous life to us, who, are in need of security and stability. It is a life of uncertainty, of poverty and I can say that with a very little education. Their main purpose is breeding their cattle which give them the possibility to live and to eat. In spite of being narrow-minded and usually mistrustful with strangers,\u00a0 they welcomed us with a charming simplicity, and, moreover, inviting us to enter into their hut to understand their culture.<\/p>\n

The glance of Elisabeth and Erika were the same glance I used to have at the beginning. A glance of astonishment and respect, a glance of love, a glance that widens the heart and makes you understand that the mission is a relationship between peoples. It is a glance between persons who discover themselves as sons and daughters of the same God who loves the humanity and was not afraid to sacrifice His own only Son to save us and to show His mercy.<\/p>\n
