{"id":33956,"date":"2020-12-01T07:03:45","date_gmt":"2020-12-01T06:03:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mdipime.org\/?p=33956"},"modified":"2025-01-30T18:10:09","modified_gmt":"2025-01-30T17:10:09","slug":"apostolic-sending","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mdipime.org\/en\/missionary-life\/apostolic-sending\/","title":{"rendered":"Apostolic Sending"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We had the joy of celebrating the\u00a0<strong>apostolic sending<\/strong>\u00a0of our three young missionaries on the occasion of the feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary on November 21 2020. The celebration was blissful with the gracious presence of Most Rev.\u00a0Thelegathoti Joseph Raja Rao SMM, the Bishop of Vijayawada Diocese.<\/p>\n<p>A sense of passion and urgency for the mission was witnessed in these\u00a0sisters\u00a0Jojamma Theppala, Teena D\u2019Souza and Jackuline Arul Raj who offered themselves to be sent as the Apostles of Christ, the Sower and the Seed, with generous and convincing response,\u00a0\u2018Here am I, send me!\u2019 (Is\u00a06:8)\u00a0to the Church in Algeria, Cameroun and Papua New Guinea respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The celebration of the Holy Eucharist cum Missionary Mandate channelized everyone to re-instate the message of Pope Francis, \u201cOur personal vocation\u201d is rooted in \u201cthe fact that we are sons and daughters of God in the Church\u201d. Our mission, our call and our willingness to be sent originate in Jesus\u2019 own vocation as \u201cthe Father\u2019s Missionary.\u201d\u00a0On this occasion we recollected thankfully the historical event of\u00a0the first missionary mandate to India held on 21<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0November 1947, in Milan, at the request of Msgr. Domenico Grassi, the then Bishop of Bezwada which took place on the feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.<\/p>\n<p>The Church is missionary in its nature, is substantially sensed in the very act of\u00a0bringing the global Church to our chapel\u00a0as the parting missionaries along with main celebrant, other priests and the Provincial direction moved\u00a0in an entrance procession to the altar carrying the flags of their destined mission and placing them under the maternal care of Immaculate Mary, our Patroness.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Who is a true missionary?\u2019 This challenging question posed by Bishop in his homily impressed the assembly to the moment of introspection of our missionary call.\u00a0<strong>The true missionary is the one who makes a difference with her spirit of prayer, apostolic courage, creativity, perseverance and humility<\/strong>\u00a0stirred us to strive further to distinguish ourselves as missionaries and respond with conviction <em>\u201cHere am I, send me.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It was heart-touching to witness the giving of Crucifix and The Holy Bible to the assigned missionaries as\u00a0an inseparable companion of their apostolate\u00a0to reveal the mystery of Christ and the Church to all\u00a0and\u00a0to\u00a0make their lives and words the \u2018echo\u2019 of Christ\u2019s voice.\u00a0The spiritual patrimony of the missionary thrust of our Holy Founders and the demands of our missionary call was re-iterated in the prayer recited by the parting missionaries as an act of offering of their lives to God for the mission.<\/p>\n<p>The prayerful presence and blessings of our sisters from different communities were the assuring moments for these\u00a0ad extra\u00a0missionaries.
