In this context, he stressed the <strong>responsibility of journalists and communicators<\/strong> to prioritize truth and service to others over sensationalism or manipulation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Disarming Communication<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pope Francis expressed concern over communication that often fuels <strong>fear, prejudice, and hatred<\/strong>, using words as weapons and spreading false or distorted information. He urged for a <strong>\u201cdisarmament\u201d of communication<\/strong>, cleansing it from aggressiveness, and warned against reducing reality to slogans, which foster division and manipulation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Hope as an Active Virtue<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Quoting Benedict XVI\u2019s encyclical <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vatican.va\/content\/benedict-xvi\/en\/encyclicals\/documents\/hf_ben-xvi_enc_20071130_spe-salvi.html\"><em>Spe Salvi<\/em><\/a>, the Pope described hope not as passive optimism but as a <strong>\u201cperformative\u201d virtue<\/strong> that transforms life. He called on Christians to be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks about the hope within them, doing so with <strong>gentleness and respect<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>A Communication of Gentleness and Proximity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Pope envisioned a style of communication marked by <strong>gentleness and closeness<\/strong>, following the example of Jesus of Nazareth. He encouraged communicators to be <strong>companions on the journey<\/strong> for those in need, fostering <strong>openness and friendship<\/strong>, and focusing on beauty and hope even in the darkest situations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The Role of the Jubilee and the Importance of the Heart<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In light of the upcoming Jubilee, Pope Francis urged journalists to <strong>seek out and share stories of goodness<\/strong>, amplifying the voices of the marginalized and promoting a culture of solidarity. He emphasized the need for communicators to <strong>care for their own hearts<\/strong>, avoiding self-centeredness and ego-driven reporting, to become true <strong>witnesses and builders of bridges<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pope Francis\u2019 message for the <strong>59th World Communications Day<\/strong> is a powerful call for a <strong>communication of hope and gentleness<\/strong>, one that fosters unity and solidarity in the face of misinformation and division.
