Antonella, Congregation Leader

Dearest Sisters,
May the peace of the Risen Lord be with you!
While the earth still trembles beneath bombs and war drones that tear families apart, destroy cities, and sow fear and death, a hymn resounds with joyful hope after the long night of the Easter Vigil: “Christ, bursting the bonds of death, rises victorious from the tomb“.

This is not an ordinary night. It is the night of nights: those of the Middle East, those of the children taken from Ukraine and deported to Russia, those of the nameless boats in the middle of the sea and of the land that yields nothing but rubble, and many other nights that afflict our humanity.

It takes faith. The kind of faith that learns to breathe in the disturbing, menacing darkness of the night, when every certainty falls silent and silence weighs like a stone. It takes the courage of a heart that reaches out towards the dawn without yet seeing it, that opens itself to the expectation of a proclamation that overturns all human logic, that shatters every calculation, that surpasses all hope: Christ is truly risen! And as if this were not enough, the Risen One calls us to be witnesses, like the disciples, of a new history that breaks into the old history and transforms it from within. A history in which we dare to believe that dialogue is not naivety, that peace is not utopia, that fraternity among men and women is not an impossible dream. Christ, the Risen One, sends us to proclaim this truth and assures us that He will walk with us.

We have said this to one another time and again in various ways during the Course for the new Provincial and Delegation directions; we have said this to ourselves with conviction, and for this very reason we want to translate it into concrete action, living as an Apostolic Body that bears witness to the light of the Risen Lord and resists the logic of death: we commit ourselves to embracing the perspective of synodality, ever more fully, leaving behind protagonism, privileges and all forms of elitism. We commit ourselves to making the shared mission not just a word, but a style that implies the ability to walk together, to dialogue with one another on matters that concerns us all, in a space where no one is merely there to teach and no one is merely there to learn, where the words of each one are an offering and a gift to the others. Finally, we commit ourselves to resisting the temptation of self-referentiality, that subtle and always lurking tendency to measure everything from our own perspective, from our own local reality, from our own point of view, opening ourselves instead to the charismatic richness and complexity of our Institute, which lives in different contexts and carries within itself a multiplicity of gifts: a polyphony that does not divide, but enriches.

May these convictions warm the hearts of all on this day of Easter, in this year that is so special for our missionary family, and may these convictions sustain the motivations that drive us to bring Jesus to the world together.

The light of the Paschal Candle, which will remain lit for these fifty days, sustains and nourishes our Hope and reminds us that the light of the Risen Christ is more powerful and more alive than any other light, even that of the fiery trail that missiles trace in the sky, cutting across horizons that should be of peace.

To all of you, my best wishes for a Happy Easter!

Sr. Antonella Tovaglieri
Congregation Leader

The Easter circular from Sr Antonella Tovaglieri, Congregation Leader, invites us to have the courage of faith to look beyond human events and see the Risen Lord

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

1

post-75279","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-vita-missionaria
["GET
