We need to cherish the gift of communication as humanity’s deepest truth, towards which all technological innovation must also be directed”.
These are the words of Pope Leo XIV that accompany the event. The face and voice are not merely biometric data, but unique and sacred aspects of human identity, a reflection of God’s love, who chose humankind as his interlocutor. The challenge posed by Artificial Intelligence lies in protecting them, NOT by halting innovation, but by learning to guide it.
Rather than a technological issue, this is an anthropological challenge that calls for responsibility, cooperation and informed education. Above all, however, it calls on us not to forget that communication is not merely a means to an end: it is a gift… and as such, it must be cherished.

Read Pope XIV message

17 May 2026.
