Sr. Gianna in Mansoa

It was the year 1993, near Mansoa, a citadel located in the Oio district, north-east of the capital Bissau. I was in a tabanca (village), where men went to collect wine from palm trees. One of them offered me some freshly collected wine, the first wine is very sweet. I’m drinking from a cassaba after blowing away the various midges and wasps. Usually the men, when they finish, sit at the foot of the palm trees to talk and to drink, it is always in the morning before noon.
