“For I know the plans I have for you,
plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope” (Jer. 29:11)
I am the third child of Mr. Juvanes and Mrs. Mary Jetrud. I am from the state of Karnataka, India. I always experienced an atmosphere of prayer in my family. Every evening my mother used to gather the family for the rosary. My mother stands a model for my life. I learned from her about the life of Jesus and Mother Mary and very often she spoke of her younger sister who is a nun. I was very much edified by my parents’ faith and trust in the Lord amidst their struggles to bring up the family. Every Sunday with my parents, brothers, and sisters I went for the mass and attended the catechism class along with my siblings.
As the years passed by I came to know about many religious congregations and their way of life. They inspired and fascinated me. Even though I was familiar with many congregation sisters who came to visit the young girls and boys in the school however none of them ever invited me to know more about their Congregations. I never realized the call of God within me until I met my parish priest who was a man of God filled with the Holy Spirit. His holy life inspired me and I felt that if he can why can’t I? Once I happened to talk to him and by looking at me he told that God was calling me for His service. I took it seriously and began to prepare myself to respond to the call of God.
After my 10th standard at the age of 16, I joined the MSI congregation and came to Andhra Pradesh. From the beginning of my life in the formation house, the only word that captivated my attention is ‘Missions and Missionary’. As I went forward in the formation I could grasp the meaning of this word. From my initial formation, I had been preparing for the missions. After my two years of initial formation, I was sent to mudarangadi community, in Karnataka for my studies. As a student, I had lots of opportunities to visit many young girls in the schools and parishes along with the vocation promoter. Their zeal and enthusiasm nurtured my Missionary Vocation.
In the year 2010, I had the joy of committing my entire life for the Lord as I made my first profession. After my Profession, I was in charge of the catering section of Nirmala Convent, Vijayawada. Later I was sent for nursing which gave me an opportunity to learn and to serve the suffering humanity. In 2017, I made my final profession. In the year 2017 on the day of Pentecost, I received the mission call. I was surprised but it was a day of joy and wonder for me. I felt that I am fulfilling the purpose of my joining in this congregation. As the years passed by I am more and more convinced of the assurance that “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope” (Jer. 29:11). Mysterious are the ways He unfolds His plans in my life and I feel that God was so good to me in all the moments of my life. I always felt His closeness in times of confusion and discouragement. So I thank God for the gift of my vocation to our Missionary family above all for choosing me to be His ambassador to the people of Cameroun.
