With hearts full of love and gratitude to God, we the Province of Siliguri solemnly celebrated the perpetual commitment of our sisters Mary Srani Lakra and Monica Bhengra, on 22 April at 10.30, in Vimala Niketan, Siliguri . Tempestuous weather was a prelude which indeed led us to intense prayer prior to the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Called to be the light to the nation, the would-be finally professed sisters with lighted candles in their hands were led to the altar of God along with the celebrants, Province leader with her team. The Solemn Eucharistic Banquet was presided over by our Most Rev. Bishop Clement Tirkey, with co-celebrants Fr. Devis, SDB, the parish priest and Fr. Prashant, PIME. Our finally professed sisters were commissioned to follow the path trodden by our founders as it is rightly expressed:
“What I have I give you”
With total conviction and commitment. The homily of Bishop Clement Tirkey enlightened them to reiterate the significance of their formative journey, a source which enabled them to journey forward with the Lord in this modern world with its challenges and demands. Their very commitment and final ‘YES’ was an inspiration to constantly say ‘yes’ to the Lord, the Sower and the Seed, with Faith, Hope and Love. Sisters from the nearby communities witnessed the ceremony and prayed for them. Finally, we the congregation exuberantly congratulated and showered manifold blessings on our sisters who have become the definitive members of our MSI family. The ceremony then came to an end with a sumptuous fraternal meal which was a moment of profound love and joy.
“Anointed and sealed for the life of the Word…We are sent, called to serve.”
Sr. Cecilia Rodrigues, Siliguri-India
