Feast of Christ the King in Hong Kong, October 1966
Don Michele, author of this photo, recounts the feast of Christ the King in Hong Kong in 1966
‘In the public government stadium a huge crowd of mostly Chinese believers (over 30,000) together with missionaries and nuns of all nationalities were chanting to Our Lord! In the middle of the stadium, a grand altar adorned with flowers was built, Holy Mass was celebrated, followed by the internal procession with the Rosary and songs and solemn Eucharistic blessing. The neighbouring Chinese Church of Silence was not forgotten! Thousands of pupils from Catholic schools also attended: Christ does not die! Let us pray, let us pray…’.
