Capoeira Arte Revelação – Grand Intensive Training (GTI)

It is an activity carried out by capoeiristas who had the opportunity to participate in the capoeira training programme called CAPOEIRANDO, which takes place every year in January in the city of Ilhéus, in the south of the state of Bahia..

Purpose of the activities

The objective is to bring together students from across the Capoeira Arte Revelação Association to share the knowledge we gained from our experience with Capoeirando in Ilhéus, Bahia. To this end, we want to carry out various activities: theoretical classes on capoeira, sharing the experiences of the masters and their ancestors, practical classes such as samba de roda, rede and capoeira fighting, and classes on instruments and musicality. In this way, by sharing the black culture of capoeira, we promote citizenship and empowerment among socially vulnerable people

Location of activities

The spaces we use are where capoeira training takes place. There are three: Escola Terezinha Moura Brasil, Escola Percilia do Nascimento, and Centro de Artes Irmã Yolanda Setúbal; all located in the Compensa neighbourhood of Manaus.

Who is it designed for (children, young people, adults)

The Capoeira Arte Revelação Association works with different age groups. There are approximately 120 children between the ages of 6 and 12. There are approximately 40 young people between the ages of 13 and 18, and finally, there are approximately 40 adults. In total, there are approximately 200 people directly involved. Of these, 50 are women and 150 are men. With this direct reach, we estimate that we indirectly reach 334 people.

Budget

The description of this small project would be to hold an exchange meeting.

However, we would like to be able to continue this exchange and these training sessions by holding four meetings, which would cost a total of 10,000 Brazilian reais (€1,700) for the months of March, April, May, and June..
