The night of the 28th October 1949 in Gudivada, India, a severe cyclone broke out. At 1 am with superhuman efforts we manage to get downstairs; upstairs is flooded and the water comes down as if there is no roof. We pass the entire night standing and praying. In the morning we see nothing but water; vast expanses of water. The paddy fields are completely submerged, the houses destroyed; our shed also suffered the same fate; so also many medicines and the linen. People are flocking from every village looking for shelter…
