“The missionaries, in the fields of schools, must bear in mind that a good intention, the heart and the sacrifice are not enough. We must first of all enjoy the trust and respect of the students.”
Msgr. Lorenzo Maria Balconi (What I have I give you pg. 227)
Some of our students shared their difficult experiences, harvested during the Pandemic, of living out values that they learnt in school and their learnings for life. Their testimonials reflect their commitment to living values and making a positive impact during challenging times.
Shifa Khan, IX class: “During the pandemic, I learned the values of resilience, adaptability, empathy, self-discipline. Switching to online classes was challenging at first, but I learned to adjust and make the most of the situation. I developed self-discipline and time management skills to stay focused on my studies. It wasn’t easy, but overcoming those obstacles made me stronger and more determined.”
Sweety Pal, IX class: “During the pandemic, I learned the significance of gratitude and appreciation. As schools closed, and we transitioned to remote learning, I realized how much I had taken for granted the physical presence of my teachers and classmates. Being physically distant from my friends and classmates made me realize the importance of friendship and connection. Really, peer to peer interaction is a pivotal part of my education. This experience taught me to cherish and be grateful for the opportunities I have. The pandemic taught me that true friendship can withstand any distance.”
Suhani Rathor, XI class: “The whole experience has made me realize that we, as humans, tend to take things for granted and don’t value what we have until it is taken away from us. There are many resources, like water, milk, groceries etc., were not valued by us children, but now I recognize the importance of sustainability, conservation and responsible consumption.”
Moh. Habib Khan, X class: “Seeing the struggles faced by frontline workers and healthcare professionals made me appreciate their dedication and sacrifice. I started expressing gratitude more often, whether it was thanking my teachers for their efforts or appreciating the simple joys in life. It made me realize how important it is to acknowledge and be thankful for what we have.”
Ramgopal Patidar, XII class: “The pandemic completely disrupted my regular school life, poor internet connectivity and difficulties in understanding complex subjects, specially Mathematics, were some of the hurdles. Staying motivated when you aren’t receiving any feedback, taught me the importance of perseverance. It taught me that setbacks are temporary, and with perseverance, we can overcome any obstacle.”
Keshav Patidar, XII Class: “I missed the energy of the classroom, participating in extracurricular activities, and spending time with friends. It took time to adjust to the new format, but with the support of my teachers and family, I managed to stay focused and continue learning. It was a rollercoaster ride. The pandemic taught me the importance of adaptability and being resourceful.”
