Nirmala Convent, Boarding and School, Karepalli proudly celebrated 25 years of excellence in education, empowerment and service with a grand Silver Jubilee Celebration on 25 January 2025. The event brought together past and present members, distinguished guests and well-wishers to reflect on the school’s inspiring journey from humble beginnings to a beacon of academic and personal growth.
Founded under the visionary leadership of Rt. Rev. Maipan Paul, then Bishop of Khammam Diocese, Telangana State, the school was established through the dedicated efforts of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate (Nirmala Sisters) of the Vijayawada Province. Initially conceived as a remedial school for dropout children, it quickly evolved into a thriving English medium institution catering to the educational aspirations of the local community. Under the guidance of Rev. Sr. Lorenza Mannala, the then Provincial Superior, the initiative began with L.K.G. and U.K.G. classes and soon expanded into a full-fledged institution committed to holistic education.
Significant milestones have marked its progress, including the inauguration of its first school building in 2001 and the establishment of a boarding facility in 2000 to provide a nurturing home for students in need. The support of the Bishop of Khammam played a crucial role in sustaining the institution in its early years, and under the leadership of Sr Emma, the boarding house became self-sufficient. The dedication of pioneers such as Sr Annie Kuzhinjalil, whose contributions remain an integral part of the school’s legacy, continues to inspire its mission.
The Silver Jubilee celebration was a heartfelt tribute to the school’s legacy, achievements and vision for the future. Most Rev. Dr. Sagili Prakash, Bishop of Khammam, and Fr. Francesco Rajacoli PIME, Regional Superior of Bangladesh and India, graced the occasion, accompanied by the harmonious melodies of the Nirmala School Band.
The day began with a solemn thanksgiving Mass celebrated by Rev. Dr. Sagili Prakash and Rev. Fr. Francesco Rajacoli PIME, along with 17 diocesan priests and two deacons. The presence of Sister Blanche, Provincial, and members of the Council added to the significance of the occasion.
A solemn Mass of Thanksgiving, cultural performances and reunions with alumni created an atmosphere of joy and gratitude. The vibrant celebrations showcased not only the school’s academic achievements, but also its commitment to holistic development through creative arts, value-based education and co-curricular activities.
Today, Nirmala Convent, Boarding and School stands as a well-equipped institution that imparts value-based education and promotes the holistic development of students. Its curriculum integrates computer education, Abacus learning and co-curricular activities, ensuring a well-rounded foundation to prepare students for future challenges.
The Silver Jubilee celebration was more than just a milestone, it was a tribute to 25 years of dedication, faith and perseverance. It reaffirmed the school’s mission to empower young minds, instil strong values and light the way of knowledge for generations to come.
As the celebrations came to a close, a deep sense of gratitude filled the air, reflecting God’s abundant blessings and the unwavering support of the Nirmala Sisters, the faculty, the students and the community. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, Nirmala Convent, Boarding and School continues its journey of shaping young minds and transforming lives.
