“Well done, good and faithful servant! Enter into the joy of your Master.” – Matthew 25:23

Sr Justina was a true missionary at heart, faithful to her vocation, unwavering in her commitment to God and persevering in her service to the Church. Her life was a testimony of love in action, a journey of faith lived with humility, sacrifice and dedication.

I consider it a blessing to have had the opportunity to welcome her to our Institute. Even in those early days I sensed something extraordinary about her spirit, rooted in faith, nurtured by a devout Christian family, and strengthened by a deep sense of purpose. Over the years I have seen these virtues flourish in her daily life.

At a time when the Church in Kerala was facing trials, with discord even among its clergy, Sr. Justina remained a beacon of firm faith. She followed these challenges closely, not out of curiosity, but with a heart burdened for the unity and holiness of the Church. She prayed earnestly for those who had strayed, believing in God’s power to heal divisions and restore obedience to His will. Her faith was never passive, it was an intercessory faith, a faith that believed in transformation.

Although she was often ill, she never allowed her suffering to overshadow her missionary zeal. Whether in health or in weakness, she remained dedicated to her duties, carrying them out with love and joy. She had a heart that could not turn away from the needs of others, tenderly caring for sick Sisters, offering a consoling presence and embodying Christ’s command: “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me“. – Mt 25:40

Even on the day she was called home to God, she was among us, sharing a meal and radiating her usual warmth. None of us could have imagined that within hours she would be taken to hospital, her earthly mission complete. By dawn she had already entered the eternal embrace of her Creator.

God’s ways are beyond human understanding. When He calls, His faithful respond.

Sr. Justina answered that call, not only on her last day, but every day of her life, through her service, her suffering and her unwavering love for Christ and His Church.

Her mission on earth is over, but her legacy lives on. May we be inspired by her steadfast faith, her selfless service and her missionary spirit, so that when our time comes, we too may hear the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.
