In the last three years Pope Francis has been offering us ideas for a style of authentic human communication through the messages for World Communications Day: “come and see” (2021), “listen with the ear of the heart” (2022) and finally “speaking with the heart”, (2023).
Going to meet, listening and speaking are the three verbs of this communicative style, verbs that are interconnected with each other: there can be no word without listening and there can be no listening if there is no encounter.
In the current change of epoch and in the complex reality in which we live, Pope Francis invites us to speak with the heart. The pontiff says that today “We have a pressing need in the Church for communication that kindles hearts, that is balm on wounds and that shines light on the journey of our brothers and sisters.”.
The great challenge lies in starting afresh from the heart, from the roots of our Christian identity to reawaken the amazement of the Gospel.
