A writing desk for the students of Cussana school

For more than 30 years we have been working in Guinea Bissau, is a small country in West Africa. The population is about 1,800,000 inhabitants of whom mostly shepherds, rice cultivators and fishermen. It was a Portuguese colony, one of the poorest and most underprivileged countries in the world. In fact, it is in the 168th position in the developing countries. The capital is Bissau. The official language is Portuguese but Kriol is the language spoken by the people.

In the villages where we are present we follow various self-managing schools with the scope of “Promoting an integral education of the school children and transforming the education into a responsibility for everyone”.

The Cussana school is in the mission of Mansoa. It is a very big school and it has more than 500 nursery and elementary students. This year, we have more students coming from the surrounding villages, and the school aims at discipline and quality education. Presently, we are facing a serious inconvenience due to lack of sufficient writing desks. The villagers are generous enough to build other three class rooms but we are in need of minimum 40 writing desk with double seats.

The cost of each writing desk with double seats is 85 Euro for a total of 3,400 Euro.

We believe that education has a great power in the growth of Guinea Bissau. Through the formation of children and young people we can give the Guinean people an opportunity to strive for stability and peace. Furthermore, in educating the new generations according to the Christian values, we provide an opportunity to love life and to live it in its fullness. We can do this, thanks for your help!
